Coconut Joe

After I posted on Saturday, I had every intention of getting my to do list out of the way, throw in a workout for good measure.  But sometimes, things don’t always go according to plan.

I was a bit ornery all morning.  An outside observer might note a hint of whininess, and a severe void of motivation.  If I wasn’t pretending to read scientific articles for a course I’m doing, I would have been tempted to slide halfway down the couch, dramatically declaring “I don’t wanna be an adult!”  This, of course, would be followed by laying face down in the couch cushions, refusing to move.

But move I did, to an appointment Brian and I had set up for noon.  Talk about putting a damper on my couch pity party.  After the appointment, Brian quietly and craftily led me to Papago for alcohol.  There are two almost full proof ways of lifting the gloom and doom in the world of Amy.  Food and alcohol.

Actually, there are three.  Let me nap.

I put up a halfhearted attempt to convince Brian we had MUCH to do and couldn’t dilly dally drinking beer and eating delicious food.

Brian won, and I (and he) was happy.

First beer of the afternoon was outstanding.

Coconut Joe Porter, brewed by Papago themselves.  Have you ever had Dunkin Donuts coconut flavored coffee?  This is exactly what this tasted like, but in beer form.  It may be my new best friend.  I’m considering buying it a best friends forever necklace for it.  Lets just hope we don’t get in a fight.

For lunch, I went with my favorite thing on the menu, the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich.

Look at those thick slabs of mozzarella goodness.  I’m still craving the fresh basil, tomato and balsamic vinaigrette combo.  The bread was wonderfully soft foccacia, full of rosemary flavor.  As a side, I got a salad with spicy thai peanut dressing.  A lunch perfect for curing the crank.

And why not have a 2nd beer?

This was a blonde ale called Somersault.  Perfect follow up to the rich coconut porter.  Quite refreshing.

Since we were feeling fancy free and far away from our honey do lists, we decided to continue playing hooky and went to catch a matinee showing of Bridesmaids.

Oh. My. Hilariousness.  Go see this movie, it is fantastic.  It definitely hit a chord dealing with girly emotions and friendships and all that jazz, while making you laugh at poop jokes.  Seriously right up my alley.  This movie will be purchased for the home theater.

The rest of Saturday was super lowkey and may have involved a nap.  Apparently we can’t handle grabbing a couple of beers during the day.

Sunday we pulled on our adult pants and conquered all the stuff we were supposed to do on Saturday.

In between load of laundry, I managed to throw together a rather tasty salad.

Greens, blue cheese crumbles, quorn chik’n tenders, tomato and honey dijon dressing.

More cleaning and sorting and folding commenced, which was totally exciting.  It was nice to be able to stay home and veg out for the weekend, instead of traveling, even if it meant putting away oodles of laundry.

For dinner, I got all domestical, and made some Tempeh Chili.  It may be 110 degrees outside, but inside its nice and air-conditioned. Perfect for a nice warm bowl of chili.

Take a second look at that picture, because that is also what I ate for dinner tonight.  Yay for leftovers.

Monday eats

  • spinach feta wrap from Starbucks
  • pineapple/cantaloupe
  • salad
  • grapes
  • bagel thin w/ sun butter and jelly

workout – 2 hours roller skating at Skateland.

Treadmill update!  The customer service at Proform was phenomenal!  I sent the replacement part request on Wednesday, got a confirmation email on Thursday, a shipping confirmation on Friday and officially received the part today!

Talk about speedy.

And the treadmill is up and running (pun intended)!

I can’t wait to take it for a spin, but that’ll have to wait until Wednesday.

  1. This entry combines two of my favorite things about 2011: beer & Bridesmaids. Granted, the former is a favorite of my life, but still. Seeing those two in one place is FTW! I think it’s possible the only way I would’ve enjoyed the movie more was if I could’ve actually had a beer while watching it. :D
