I really need to get this not sleeping thing under control! It affects my entire being.
This morning, I got to make my coffee all by myself (small curtsey). Apparently I rely entirely too much on Brian for my caffeine intake because I made that stuff so strong I swear I sprouted chest hair. Its like I got smacked in the face by coffee beans.
Smack, smack!
Ouch.
Now, lemmetellya, I like my coffee strong, but not strong enough to hurt my feelers.
Rest of eats
- Morningstar sausage patty x 2
- yogurt
- Amy salad w/ black beans
- almonds
- tofurkey w/ laughing cow cheese
As I mentioned yesterday, we’re trying to eat in at home more, but tonight was a special exception.
Tonight was the last official night (for now) for Miss Erika to be in AZ and one last “family” gathering was necessary to soften the blow of goodbye.
But its not goodbye! Its see you later!
We tried to go to our favorite bar, the BOP, but it was trivia night. I love trivia nights, but its really not conducive to a goodbye dinner. Luckily, Papago Brewing is right around the corner, and I was in the mood for some good beer.
Papago has a bunch of beers on tap, about 30, which they switch out often, along with a giant wall full of specialty beers and microbrews. While you can go here for a good ol’ bud light bottle (ahem Brian), you’d be missing out on some tasty beer.
I started with an Orange Blossom, a beer brewed by Papago Brewing itself, and is described as vanilla mandarin wheat ale. This is my go to choice at Papago, and I’m never disappointed.
It helps to have a bunch of friends to go with, so you can sample their selection. This is how I ended up with my second choice.
Nice and mellow. Only problem was a was filled up to here with my sandwich and first beer.
I know. Be jealous. That’s a fresh mozzarella caprese sandwich on rosemary focaccia bread. Oh my word. Party in my mouth. And I ate the whole thing.
Why? Because it was fricken delicious. And mostly because I’m going to start a quasi-South Beach eating regiment, and the next 2 weeks, carbs aren’t my friend. I’ve known for awhile that cutting back on my bread intake definitely makes an impact on my weight loss. If it doesn’t work, no biggie, I’ll tweak it for myself.
The food, beer, and especially the company were fantastic, but Brian and I played the role of responsible adults and left after a few drinks. After work, I crashed hard for an hour and a half by accident….. well…. I did lay down on the bed, but the falling asleep happened before I knew it. This just continues in a vicious cycle of not being able to fall asleep tonight, so hopefully some melatonin will get the job done.
I also want to give a big congratulations to my friends Nicole and Tyler who gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl this morning!
And Erika, love you! See you soon!

Dude, the rosemary foccacia made my sandwich. I didn’t even see you taking pics!
I’m a ninja.
