Sundays like today are the reason I live in Arizona. While people around the rest of the country are digging themselves out of the white stuff, Brian and I gallivanted around So Sco and Tempe today. Don’t get me wrong, 110+ degree days are killer, but I’ll take them over snow forts any day.
We started off slow today, egg sammie for her, egg sammie for him. Words with Friends for her, Word feud for him. Coffee for her, Rockstar for him. Until, that is, we opened the shades and saw the beautiful day that laid before us.
Holy bejeezus, was it outstanding outside, I couldn’t even stand it. If we didn’t have a thermometer in our pool reading below 65 degree temps, I would have dived in.
Today was not a day to be spent cooped up indoors. We took one look at Shea Stadium and knew we had to get out of the house. We decided to take the cutest puppy in the world to the dog park.
Sigh.
While there, we realized something. If Shea were a human child, she’d be the smelly, awkward one with glasses who ate paste and didn’t know how to interact with her peers. Not only did our little one stay close to us, but when she did find dog friends, she jumped on their owners instead of the puppies. She got so anxious, she started this whole foaming at the mouth action.
Awesome.
Brian and I have started talks about getting a second dog to remind Shea that a.) She’s a DOG and b.) to reduce her anxiety and need for attention. We will have to find the perfect fit for our family, but we are excited about the possibilities.
After the dog park, we started in on our errands. We went to Tempe marketplace around lunch time and got distracted from our errands by D’arcy McGee’s. We were hungry and they had an outdoor patio. Don’t mind if we do.
I started off with a Stella
Listen, don’t judge. We had Target and the grocery store ahead of us. On a Sunday. It was necessary.
I went with the Warm Goat Cheese Salad.
I asked for dressing on the side, which the waitress forgot, but it wasn’t an issue. The dressing was super light and hardly noticeable at all. The goat cheese was fried and fantastically delicious. Paired nicely with the Stella if I do say so myself.
Brian ate some sort of steak sandwich thingamabob and drank some Guinness. Perfect for getting our way through returning wedding presents and buying storage containers from the Tar-jay. Or Tar-hay as Sherry has recoined it.
After Tar-jayhay, Brian and I hit up the grocery store. I’ve got a meal plan for this week and I’m hoping I stick to it, yo.
But for now, Brian and I are watching movies. First up, Secretariat. Good feel-good Disney movie, however, one of its cast members (guess which one) has led us to the 2nd movie of the evening, Delirious, with John Candy.
I have finally seen a horrible comedy Brian hasn’t. And now I’m forcing him to watch it. Awesomeness.
Obviously such intense Netflix watching requires food to be brought in from the outside. We ordered from Silvermine Subs. I went with the veggie sub option, and added facon when it got here.
Now, if you don’t mind, I have a boy and a dog to snuggle with. And a John Candy movie to finish watching.
